A Closer Look – About the Performer:

Three-time Emmy Award winner John "Kinderman" Taylor is nationally recognized for his innovations in educating, entertaining, and inspiring the imaginations of children, teachers and parents. Kinderman has been honored and recognized by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) and the National Headstart Association for his work and approach in educating children.

Kinderman has long been known as the “Pied Piper of Dance,” and is a Master Artist with the WolfTrap Institute for Early Learning through the Arts, as well as an Artist-In-Education for the Maryland State Arts Council and regional arts councils in the Baltimore/Washington corridor.

He has concentrated the last two decades on helping to develop young minds and bodies with his “Kindercise In Action: A Moving and Chanting Approach to Learning” Program. The Kindercise core program, which you might know from its hit song, “Friends, Friends, One, Two, Three”, has been translated into many foreign languages, including Spanish, French, German, and Hebrew. During the past twenty years, Kinderman has produced curriculum materials, which include 6 CD’s, workbooks, games, posters, and videos, which teachers, parents and children all over the world have had the opportunity to experience.

Kinderman is a three time Emmy recipient for his “It’s Kindertime Show,” his first  program which he helped to conceptualize and co-produce over 5 years ago. He is now the host and producer of “The Kinderman Show” on Baltimore’s ABC Channel 2, showing on Saturday mornings, at 6:30 and 7:00 a.m. for the past two years. A popular show, this is a reinvention of the original “It’s Kindertime Show,” with added educational spots, and shows that highlight arts events featuring children and renowned performing artists from the Mid-Atlantic region. If you ask him why he does what he does, and the answer stays the same, “It’s for the children!”
