A Closer Look – About the Artist:
‘Sol y Rumba Band’ has been a favorite in the Metro area for over 15 years.  Entertaining and educating, their music reaches young and old, with the rhythms and melodies of the many countries and culture of Latin America.  Both high energy groups “Sol Y Rumba” and “Sin Fronteras Mariachi Band” were created by the wonderful Maria Isolina: Honduran singer, songwriter, and band leader.

Maria has opened for singers John Secada and Cachao.  She has also alternated for the famous Salsa singer Celia Cruz and has sung with other famous singers such as Leo Dan, Barry Manilow, and Willy Chirino.  She has appeared at the Festival of La Tonada in Tunayan Argentina, La Paz Bolivia, Mexico City Mexico, and in her own native country Honduras, and she regularly performs with a group of talented friends and family.  The Washington Post says “…her strong clear voice is filled with fire and passion”. You can listen to her two albums: Maria Isolina and Oro Y Arcia online at www.solyrumbaband.com.
